Notice for 15.05.19
As part of our The Wonderful World of Walliams topic, the children have created designs to make a product for a character of their choice (on 09.05.19). The children will be making these products on Wednesday 15th May and in order to create their designs, they will need to bring in some materials to do so.
The children will have an idea of which materials they would like to use, however if you feel that some of their choices are difficult to find, then any alternative is fine as they will be reflecting on the design process throughout the day.
If there are any problems with sourcing materials then please speak to your child's class teacher.
Many thanks for all your co-operation,
Year 5 team
Year 5 Homework
Spellings and reading will be checked on Thursday 9th this week due to our residential trip to Green Park.
Reading - We expect the children to read at least three times a week. They should record this in their school planners, on the yellow pages. We ask parents to sign this weekly. After finishing a book the children should log onto the Accelerated Reader website to complete a comprehension quiz to show their understanding of the text. Children should then record their score in their planner. Planners are only checked on Mondays by class staff.
Spellings - Children are given spellings to learn every Tuesday, these are stuck into the blue pages in their school planner. On the following Monday the children will be tested on these spellings on the pink pages in their school planner. The children should be practising their spellings throughout the week using strategies taught in school. They should do this on paper at home and make use of Spelling Shed (an online resource available to all pupils to support the learning of spellings set).
Log book tasks - One log book task is set approximately every 3 weeks.
English and Maths - One piece of either English or Maths homework will be sent home on alternate weeks. This will be set on a Tuesday and will be due in on the following Monday. If no homework has been completed the children will complete the outstanding homework during their lunchtime on Tuesdays.
