Welcome to our school website. I am very proud to be the Headteacher of Bedgrove Junior School and I hope that this website will give you a flavour of all the great things that happen at our school. The website aims to give you a taster of the school, as well as providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community.
Bedgrove Junior School is a good school where; "teachers successfully strive hard to challenge, engage and interest pupils in lessons. Pupils’ social, moral, spiritual and cultural development is a strength. The school is an extremely caring place where pupils are kept safe and every pupils welfare matters greatly". (OFSTED June 2015).
We are a school that is committed to ensuring that every child learns in a safe, challenging and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to achieve their very best, both within and outside of the classroom. We are continually striving to improve outcomes for all pupils and make our school the very best it can be. We have a strong set of core values that underpin our behaviour policy and prepare our pupils to be good citizens of the school and wider community.
Bedgrove Junior School is a well-resourced primary school with a very committed team of staff and an active PTA. We have specialist teachers for music, french and PE and offer the children a broad and balanced curriculum which is enhanced with our many trips, visitors and in school experiences. All classrooms are equipped with up to date ICT equipment and other learning resources. We have a dedicated music room, children's kitchen, well-stocked library, computers in our ICT suite and class sets of IPADs and kindles for the children to use.
We have developed our outside space with the installation of our new climbing equipment inall three playgrounds and we are hoping to continue this development over the coming year with the installation of a MUGA (multi-use games area).
We know that our close partnership with parents is crucial to the successful education of all our children and we encourage parents to communicate with the school at every opportunity. We have a strong Governing Body in place who support and challenge the school effectively and are available for parents to contact them should they need to.
Our parents say:-
"My children love school, that speaks for itself"
"My child loves it and skips in to school each day"
When parents were asked how to improve our school in a recent survey: -
"Nothing comes to mind. You would find it hard to improve on what is already a great school!"
As part of a community of local schools, we are developing opportunities for collaborative learning and professional development. In particular, we have strong links with Bedgrove Infant School and Haydon Abbey School and continue to share a number of projects and staff development across the schools.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find the information you are looking for (please note that we ask permission from all parents to allow their child's image to be used on our school website and we will never publish an image next to the full name of a child). We operate an open door policy and welcome current parents, potential parents or any other visitors to come and see the school in action at any time. Please feel free to contact the school if you have any further questions or to arrange a visit.
