Welcome to our school website. I am very proud to be the Headteacher of Bedgrove Junior School.
I hope that this website will give you a full flavour of all the great things that happen at our school whilst also providing up to date information for parents, pupils and the wider community.
On 1st April 2019 Bedgrove Junior School converted to an academy and joined the Great Learners Trust.
The Great Learners Trust, which was established in 2014, is a local multi-academy trust specialising in primary education based in Buckinghamshire. The aim of the trust is to provide local, responsive, practical and strategic support for all partner schools (Great Missenden, Princes Risborough, Wooburn Green and Great Kimble).
Bedgrove Junior School is a good school where; "teachers successfully strive hard to challenge, engage and interest pupils in lessons. Pupils’ social, moral, spiritual and cultural development is a strength. The school is an extremely caring place where pupils are kept safe and every pupils welfare matters greatly". (OFSTED June 2015).
We are a school that is committed to ensuring that every child learns in a safe, challenging and stimulating environment where they are encouraged to achieve their very best, both within and outside of the classroom. We are continually striving to improve outcomes for all of our pupils and make our school the very best it can be. We have a strong set of core values that link closely to British Values and which underpin our behaviour policy. The core values are used as curriculum drivers as we aim to prepare our pupils to be good citizens of our school and the wider community whilst encouraging them to become lifelong learners.
Bedgrove Junior School is a well-resourced primary school with a very committed team of staff and an active PTA. We have specialist teachers for music, french and PE and offer the children a broad and balanced curriculum which is enhanced with our many trips, visitors and in school experiences. All classrooms are equipped with up to date ICT equipment and other learning resources. We have a dedicated music room, children's kitchen, well-stocked library, computers in our ICT suite and class sets of laptops, IPADs and kindles for the children to use.
We have developed our outside space with the installation of our new climbing equipment in all three playgrounds and our newly installed MUGA (multi use games area) to improve our PE and playtime provision.
We know that our close partnership with parents is crucial to the successful education of all our children and we encourage parents to communicate with the school at every opportunity. Parents are regularly invited in to school for our open events, termly parent presentations or to join our parent forum who meet on a half-termly basis. We communicate with parents via parentmail, our school website and our fantastic twitter account.
In a recent parent survey 100% of parents would recommend our school to another parent.
Our parents say:-
"My children love school, that speaks for itself"
"My child loves it and skips in to school each day"
When asked how to improve our school, one parent commented:
"Nothing comes to mind. You would find it hard to improve on what is already a great school!"
We have a strong Local Governing Board in place who support and challenge the school effectively and are available for parents to contact them should they need to.
Whilst being part of the Great Learners Trust, we relish further opportunities for collaborative learning and professional development with local schools. In particular, we have strong links with Bedgrove Infant School and Haydon Abbey School and continue to share a number of projects and staff development across the schools. We also engage with Ashmead Combined School as part of their ITT programme and offer placements for students within our school. We have also recently joined a local Aylesbury Hub for the 'Challenge Partners' network where we are working closely with Aylesbury Grammar School on leadership development.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website, and that you find the information you are looking for. We operate an open door policy and welcome current parents, potential parents or any other visitors to come and see the school in action at any time. Please feel free to contact the school if you have any further questions or to arrange a visit. We look forward to meeting you.
